Rep. Sherrill Statement on White House Bill Signing of Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

Washington, DC — Today, Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) released the following statement after attending the White House bill signing ceremony for the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act:

“Today, the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act became law, and I was fortunate to be part of the bipartisan group of lawmakers, transportation officials, union leaders, and more who attended the signing ceremony at the White House. It’s hard to overstate how large of a win this legislation is for families across NJ-11. For years, I’ve listened to the stories of hellish commutes that disrupt daily life and lived those disruptions myself. By getting shovels in the ground on the Gateway Tunnel Project and the Lackawanna Cutoff, ensuring our drinking water is safe from PFAS and lead pipes, creating good-paying union jobs that will fuel our economy, and investing in our children’s future and our global competitive edge — this legislation will benefit NJ-11 families in innumerable ways for decades to come.“This law should also be a reminder that despite the polarization of our nation that receives the most attention — there are still opportunities for us to find common ground and deliver for the American people. At today’s signing ceremony, I sat alongside lawmakers from both parties as we watched this piece of legislation — that in many ways will lay the groundwork for our future — become law.“Moments like that are why I came to Congress: to get things done for the people of northern New Jersey. The work will continue to ensure these projects get underway effectively and efficiently, But today, turning this package into law is something to be proud of.”
