Representatives Malinowski and Gottheimer Announce $38 Million for St. Luke’s University Health Network Covering Warren County

(Somerville, NJ) – Today, Representatives Tom Malinowski and Josh Gottheimer announced that St. Luke’s University Health Network, which covers Warren County, has received $38 million in federal resources from the CARES Act. This is the first tranche of $30 billion in federal investment distributed to hospitals through the bipartisan CARES Act, which included $100 billion to support hospitals and health care providers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to get resources into the hands of health care providers as quickly as possible, $30 billion has been distributed immediately, proportionate to the providers’ share of Medicare fee-for-service reimbursements in 2019. Hospital systems across the United States are struggling, due to an increase in COVID-19 patients, but also because of a lack of revenue due to the cancellation of elective procedures and fewer people visiting the doctor.

“We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and perseverance of our health care workers in the face of this crisis,” said Congressman Malinowski. “The funding we secured in the CARES Act will go straight to these hospitals that are struggling to meet demand, and that are losing much of their revenue. I will continue pushing to make sure they have every resource they need to fight this pandemic.”

Both Sussex and Warren qualify for hundreds of millions of dollars in direct relief and support — including dollars that are literally going out the door this week.”
