Republican Dan Cruz Files Petition for Senate for the 24th Legislative District

It is with great pride; I announce the successful filing of my petition for the 24th Legislative District’s State Senate seat. With my petition being filed my grassroots campaign can now continue down its current path towards victory. I have had the honor of meeting so many people within the 24th Legislative District and cannot wait to continue this humbling experience. The 24th district encompasses Warren, Sussex and Morris counties and is home to some of the most hard working and determined people I have ever met. The natural beauty of our state’s north-west corridor coupled with the strong communities which have been built in our region is truly a blessing for all of us.

I decided to throw my hat into this race because I am a man who believes in not just talking the talk but also walking the walk. I was raised to find a solution to any problem that arises; not just point and complain about it. I was born and raised on the Streets of Paterson where I have seen, first hand, the dangers and shortfalls of machine politics: politics where money and power are what politicians are after, not their duty. I am a proud Republican who believes in the founding principles of our party: hard work, honesty, integrity, individualism and strength. The founding fathers created this great nation using these same virtues which has ultimately led to the inception of the greatest country on Earth. Growing up with these types of ideals at the forefront of my upbringing helped mold me into the man, father, friend and leader I am today.

The founders envisioned a Nation where the government was by the people for the people, this founding principle is what makes our democracy so strong even to this day. President Trump brought this message with him to Washington, a mission to bring government back to the people and drain the swamp, this message is one which resonates with me still today. New Jersey is at a crossroads, where we have establishment politicians who have been in elected offices for over a decade making the same mistakes, allowing for the same failures and using the same old excuses. This pattern must be broken and it is all of our duties to help do so.

Politicians who have been propped up by the swamp for the benefit of the swamp is not what we need within any facet of government, just as President Trump took this fight to Washington, we all must do our part here at home and do the same. Senator Oroho, our district’s state senator, has been in office for over 25 years and yet the accomplishments of his tenure are slim to none. The consistent deal making with Trenton Democrats and Murphy allies has brought nothing but struggle back to our corner of the State. Disappearing into the smoky back rooms and conferences but showing up whenever a camera is around; That’s not leadership, that’s machine politics. The working class people of the 24th Legislative District deserve a Senator that will fight for us all, every day, because that is the job and that’s what it takes. Absentee leaders are unacceptable, especially when the taxpaying constituents are footing the bill for their salary. Legislation such as the Gas tax that Senator Oroho was responsible for creating and pushing is a prime example of the kind of failures we, the taxpayers, are forced to deal with. The so-called “Path to Progress” which seeks to take more power away from the people of our district is another example of a pattern of swamp politics that has no place in our legislative district. These types of agendas are proof that politicians who are beholden to special interests and other elites are not just in Washington D.C. but right here at home.

Removing power from the people to cater to the Trenton Democratic machine is unacceptable and it is not what our district needs. Focusing on personal political agendas and the collection of institutional power does nothing but leave the people of Sussex, Warren and Morris counties holding the bag while establishment politicians like Steve Oroho and Democrat Governor Phil Murphy get richer and more powerful. It is time for new blood in Trenton, new ideas on the Senate floor and a truly American mindset within our government. The time for power to be given back to the people, the time for public servants to once more serve the public, has come. The people of our district deserve the absolute best leadership possible, no exceptions. This campaign is not about me; this campaign is about all of us within the 24th district. It is time to put power back in the hands of the people, the way our founding fathers intended it!
