PISCATAWAY, NJ – Thanks to the generous donations of dozens of residents, Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Services (MCFOODS) will be able to restock their shelves with nonperishable foods and other necessities to continue helping those in need during these unprecedented times.

MCFOODS’ Drive-By Food Drive on Saturday, March 27 at the Lowe’s Home Improvement on Centennial Avenue in Piscataway found much success with people from all over the County stopping by to drop off donations from the safety of their vehicles. Volunteers collected more than 9,240 pounds of food for MCFOODS which will be sorted and distributed to over 140 local food pantries, soup kitchens, and social services throughout the County.

“While the COVID-19 pandemic has caused an increase in food insecurity in Middlesex County and nationwide, we are grateful that these food drives continue to generate nutritious foods to help us feed struggling families in our communities,” said Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald Rios. “It’s inspiring to see so many people working together to help alleviate hunger and drive awareness of the significant need that exists in our communities. These contributions will make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many who are currently struggling.”

Other sponsors included Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages, Piscataway Lowe’s Home Improvement Center, and Yum & Chill Restaurant Group.
