(TRENTON) – Restoring money for women’s health care to the state budget, increasing penalties for energy slamming practices, regulating electronic smoking devices, protecting the disabled and establishing a central registry for sickle cell trait diagnoses topMonday’s Assembly committee hearings.

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
- A-2134 (Mazzeo/Downey/Mosquera/Lampitt/Vainieri Huttle/Jimenez/Pintor Marin/Sumter) – Makes FY 2018 supplemental appropriation of $7,453,000 to DOH for family planning services; and A-1656 (Pintor Marin/Lagana/Jasey/Mukherji/Downey) Provides Medicaid coverage for family planning services to individuals with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level. 10 a.m. Health and Senior Services.
- A-1683 (Benson/Houghtaling/Moriarty) – Increases penalties for energy “slamming” practices. 10 a.m.Telecommunications and Utilities.
- A-1601 (Conaway) – Requires licensure for manufacturers, distributors, wholesale dealers, and retail dealers of electronic smoking devices and related products; and A-2185 (Conaway) – Prohibits sale of menthol cigarettes. 10 a.m.Health and Senior Services.
- A-2184 (Conaway) – Establishes central registry for sickle cell trait diagnoses; provides for informational outreach and genetic counseling. 10 a.m. Health and Senior Services.
- The Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee at 10 a.m. will receive testimony concerning three issues that are likely to be considered by the committee in the form of legislation during this session: out of network healthcare costs, health insurance mandates and the prospect of a state bank.
- A-1603 (Conaway/McKnight) – Prohibits paid caretakers from being appointed guardian or granted power of attorney for individual with disability. 10 a.m. Health and Senior Services.
