RETIRED LABOR OFFICIAL DECLARES CANDIDACY FOR CEDAR GROVE TOWNSHIP COUNCIL

CEDAR GROVE – Robert Dombrowski, a 24-year resident of Essex County and six-year Cedar Grove community advocate will be a candidate this November in the special election for township council.

Dombrowski filed over 200 signatures on Monday.

Dombrowski, born in Bergen County is a retired state employee who served with the New Jersey Highway Authority from 1977-2005.

Dombrowski served in numerous capacities with the International Federation of Professional, Technical Engineers (IFPTE, Local 196 of the AFL-CIO). In his time with the local, Dombrowski served as shop steward, sergeant-at-arms, recording secretary, area president, and vice-president.

The candidate resides at 38 Devonshire Road with his wife Linda and one adult son, Andrew. Robert’s wife is a 31-year resident of Cedar Grove employed by an area car dealership.

Dombrowski is running because he believes average residents need to be heard; and stressed he is willing to listen and help solve the issues Cedar Grove really cares about.

“I’m running this year because voters deserve a choice. Being retired allows me the ability to work hard and be effective for taxpayers and homeowners alike,” noted Dombrowski who previously served in a legislative capacity to two New Jersey Senators.

“I have a unique background in public service and collective bargaining that allows me to hit the ground running. For me the details matter. Keeping a keen eye on our finances while promoting Cedar Grove’s quality of life will be crucial as we continue to be challenged by COVID-19.”

Dombrowski currently serves in a part-time capacity with Essex County Commissioner and board president, Brendan Gill of Montclair.

“I believe my strong relationship with Commissioner Gill can be an asset for Cedar Grove and I want to ensure that in my time on the governing body that we maintain Cedar Grove’s historic reputation as being small, safe and suburban,” noted the candidate.

Dombrowski is an avid landscaper and car buff who owns a 1980 Corvette and 1966 Ford Thunderbird.

Originally from North Arlington, Bob is a 1975 graduate of NAHS.
