NJDSC: Richter Says the Quiet Part Out Loud — He’s Running to Serve Washington Republican Insiders, Not Burlington & Ocean Families
Richter Says the Quiet Part Out Loud — He’s Running to Serve Washington Republican Insiders, Not Burlington & Ocean Families
TRENTON, NJ — Fresh off an ugly primary campaign marred by allegations of misogyny, multimillionaire Republican Congressional candidate David Richter is trying to sweep his past history under the rug as he courts moderate voters in the general election. But in a radio interview with conservative host Hugh Hewitt, Richter just blew it. When given a softball question about why he’s running for Congress, Richter said he’s doing it for one reason only: to give the national Republican Party a majority in the House of Representatives. Richter didn’t say a word about fighting for middle class families in Burlington and Ocean counties, because he doesn’t care about them — he’s in it for himself, for his big corporate donors and for the Washington Republican elite.
“Running in the 3rd District wasn’t David Richter’s first choice, so it’s no surprise that he can’t even be bothered to say a word about what he would do to help middle class families there struggling through the COVID-19 crisis,” said NJDSC Spokesman Philip Swibinski. “Richter just proved that he is only out for himself and his Washington Republican backers. He may have been able to buy his way to the Republican Party’s nomination, but he can’t fool Burlington and Ocean county voters who see how hard Congressman Andy Kim is working every single day to help them make it through these challenging times.”
