Roselle Public Schools Announces Public Forums, Video to Inform Residents About Bond Referendum

Roselle, N.J.--Roselle Public Schools will hold public information events to help community members learn more about the Sept. 15 bond referendum.

The first information session will be held on Thursday, July 23, from 6-7 p.m. in the Abraham Clark High School Auditorium at 122 E. Sixth Ave. To keep the event focused on the community presentation, questions will only be considered if they are submitted in advance through a Google form.

A virtual public forum will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. Residents can join the webinar-style event via a Zoom link and submit questions to a panel of district leaders, project architects and financial advisers. A recording will be available following the forum for those unable to participate.

The district also has launched a video on the bond referendum for the public to learn more about planned improvements. The video can be found at https://bit.ly/4hgfBcV and on the bond referendum website, roselleschools.org/build, which also includes FAQs, voter forms, and financial and project details.

Roselle Public Schools is sharing information about the referendum in other ways, including flyers and banners, and district Facebook and Instagram accounts, and will feature the referendum in The Rambler newsletter, which is mailed to the entire community.

Two questions will be on the Sept. 15 ballot. Question 1 covers the construction of a PreK-Grade 2 school to provide adequate space and an improved learning environment for early education. Question 2 includes security vestibules for enhanced screenings at school entrances; makerspaces to expand hands-on, innovative instruction; renovations to the Abraham Clark High School auditorium; and conversion of part of the Central Office to a Transition Center for adult students with special needs.

Question 2 is only eligible to pass if Question 1 passes. Estimated tax impact is based on the $122,763 average assessed value of a Roselle property. Homeowners can find their estimated tax impact by using the calculator on the website financial page.
