Rosemary Becchi of Jersey First Explores Run for Congress
“My work with Jersey First has been eye opening to the growing financial burdens on New Jersey families and the lack of political courage and leadership among our elected officials to do anything about it. New Jersey is becoming increasingly unaffordable, and it is well past time we took decisive steps to stop it,” said Becchi.
“I have been encouraged by many people to run for New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, and I am both humbled and encouraged by that support,” she added. “Today, I will begin exploring a potential run for the 7th District seat. Certainly, we need to bring new leadership and new ideas to Washington rather than send back the same people who keep failing us. We need leaders who actually want to do something, not be something in Washington.”
Rosemary is a leading tax policy lawyer and consultant who was formerly counsel to the majority staff of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee. It was during her time with the Committee that she helped to author the federal 529 College Savings Plan.
“A major event in my life took place during college when a family financial crisis threatened my ability to finish school. I was fortunate to be able to work multiple jobs while securing various grants and loans which allowed me to pursue my dream of a college degree. However, many students aren’t as fortunate, which is why I seized the opportunity to help in authoring the federal 529 College Savings Plan, which families across the nation now rely upon to put their children through college.”
Rosemary lives with her husband, Scott, and three daughters in Short Hills, and she is currently a Strategic Advisor and Counsel at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, where she specializes in tax and financial services matters.
She has reached out to family, friends and supporters with a letter about her exploratory effort and launched a website at: http://becchi.aodev4.com/
