Run for Something endorses Kadja Manuel for Trenton City Council, At-Large Changing The Face of Local Politics in New Jersey

July 27, 2022- Kadja Manuel is proud to receive the endorsement of Run for Something (RFS), the groundbreaking organization that recruits and supports strong voices in the next generation of progressive leadership.

“It feels great to be part of such a dynamic and diverse group of candidates. From the moment I saw RFS Launch, they’ve helped support countless progressive candidates nationwide who are ‘answering the call’ in their communities. My platform includes specific details on we can and will strengthen our community not just during this race but after victory”, said Manuel. “We are building a progressive movement aimed at forces hurting our community. What we have is a People-powered movement. They’ve got money, and we’ve got people”.

On pace to more than double our best recruitment year yet, Run for Something(RFS) is proud to stand with these emerging progressive leaders! This month, we’re adding 66 candidates from 29 states — including 8 RFS alumni running for re-election — to our impressive list of endorsees who understand the urgency of mobilizing to hold on to and gain seats this November.

“These candidates have taken their frustration and turned it into action in their communities,” shared RFS co-founder and co-executive director Amanda Litman. “Our legislative future, from reproductive rights and gun control to climate change and more, are on the ballot this fall. We’re here to support our endorsees as they fight for democracy in state and local offices across the country.”

Of our July class of 66 candidates:

  • 45% (30)
  •  are women or non-binary
  • 41% (27)
  •  are people of color
  • 24% (16)
  •  are LGBTQIA+

As we continue to build the progressive bench from the bottom-up, we are excited to support and amplify more talented, young progressives already making a difference at the state and local level.

The endorsement process includes an extensive internal review with background check, staff interview and insight from local state experts.

Amanda Litman and Ross Morales Rocketto launched RFS on Jan. 20, 2017 with a simple premise: help young diverse progressives to run for down-ballot races in order to build a bench for the future. RFS aims to lower the barriers to entry for these candidates by helping them with seeding money, organization building, and access to the trainings needed to be successful. So far, over 120,000 young people from across the country have signed up to run and gained access to RFS resources.

Run for Something recruits and supports talented, passionate young people who advocate for progressive values now and for the next 30 years, with the ultimate goal of building a progressive bench.
