RUTHERFORD, NJ TO HOLD 3rd ANNUAL LGBTQ+ PRIDE FEST ON JUNE 1st

Rutherford, NJ – May 21, 2024 – Rutherford Pride Alliance is proud to announce its third annual PrideFest will take place on Saturday, June 1.
Rutherford Pride Alliance is dedicated to promoting and fostering LGBTQ+ inclusivity, visibility, and advocacy in Rutherford and Southern Bergen County. The theme of this year’s event is “The Power of Pride.”
“I am thrilled to see the continued growth and support for our LGBTQ+ community through events like PrideFest,” said Kat Ruhno-McCallum, President of Rutherford Pride Alliance, “The success of the past two years surpassed all expectations, and this year we are eager to build on that momentum.”
Rutherford’s PrideFest will feature vendor tables, food trucks, a beer garden, and kids’ activities. There will be live entertainment with host Kimmy Sumony, DJ Dean Seda and several musical acts, including celebrated artist Tami Hart.
The festival is co-hosted by the Rutherford Arts Council, a community-driven group created in 2019 to help foster and fund artistic endeavors in both Rutherford youth and adults.
“We’re so excited to be teaming up with the RPA to host the Pride festival again this year,” says Katie Pippin, president of RAC. “Identity is intrinsically tied to artistic expression. Visibility of the LGBTQ+ community is more important now than ever with rights at stake in an election year. I am thankful to the borough and all our sponsors.” Sponsors include Variance Films, BCB Bank, and Skopos Hospitality Group.
“Our goal remains unchanged,” adds Ruhno-McCallum, “To provide visibility, acceptance, and a safe and welcoming space for every person to be their authentic selves. We invite the community to join us June 1st for a day filled with music, activities, and most importantly good vibes.”
PrideFest is open to the public from 12pm to 4pm at Rutherford’s Lincoln Park, located at Park Avenue and Highland Cross. More information about the event can be found at https://www.rutherfordpridealliance.org.
About Rutherford Pride Alliance
Rutherford Pride Alliance was founded in 2018 by a small group of LGBTQ+ residents. It has since grown to several hundred members from Rutherford and neighboring towns. The RPA organized the first raising of the rainbow Pride Flag at Rutherford’s Borough Hall in June 2019, a tradition that has continued ever since. The RPA was established to introduce LGBTQ+ community members to one another, on a social level, as well as to benefit all members of the community – whether LGBTQ+ identifying or not.
