Salem County Clerk Candidate Announces Pledge to Donate ½ of His Salary Annually & challenges his opponent to do the same
The Time 4 Change Candidate’s pledge has been issued to his opponent, and could become the campaign issue for a highly contested primary
Ryan Padilla, a 29 year old Democrat Salem County Community College Board Trustee, and son of former Chief of Detectives and Mayor of Pittsgrove,Ralph Padilla, came out swinging with what could become a groundbreaking moment in political races moving forward. His challengethat is bound toconsume much attention in this County Clerk primary race.
“It’s very simple SIGN THE PLEDGE that you’ll donate ½ of your salary to fund Veteran, Seniors and Youth Programs in Salem County, so the people in our county know that you’re running for office for all the right reasons, and not looking to line your pockets with a salary that exceeds well over $100,000 annually in one of the poorest counties in the state.” said Ryan Padilla.
In addition to the pledge, Padilla and his supporters are proud to not engage in acquiring political organization endorsements. “As I speak to people throughout the county they are sick and tired of the partisanship and politicians at the county level saying one thing and doing another.”
Padilla added that “our campaign is about getting endorsements one voter at a time. I’m a proud Democrat, and this June the climate is ripe to send a message to the career politicians and it starts with our approach of putting the people before politics and personal gain. When I speak to voters they are floored when they hear that this position pays well over a $100,000. As one voter told me it’s appalling.”
Padilla has already challenged former County Freeholder Beth Timberman to release her tax records with no response from her campaign.
