Sara Peña Joins PSEG as the Director of External Affairs

 

Newark, NJ – The Boys to Leaders Foundation is proud to announce that its Founder and President, Sara Peña, has joined PSEG as the Director of External Affairs.

 

As the Director of External Affairs, Ms. Peña will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing strategic outreach and communication plans in support of critical PSEG, PSE&G and PSEG Power priorities. The role includes managing a team of Regional Public Affairs Managers who advocate and gain support for key business priorities, legislative and regulatory proposals, and projects to a wide range of external audiences.

A native of Newark, Sara Peña received her bachelor’s degree in management from Kean University and her master’s degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University in Newark. She is a Leadership Newark Fellow, a program designed to cultivate leadership through immersion in public policy and engagement with social and political issues and a graduate of Emerge New Jersey, a political leadership training program for women.

 

Ms. Peña brings over twenty years of expertise in developing and implementing statewide communication strategies and building relationships and partnerships geared towards addressing community affairs ranging from the non-profit, healthcare, government, and private sectors. Her commitment to community service and passion for mentoring the youth has led her to be recognized and honored by numerous organizations and elected officials, including the “Abriendo Puertas” award from The Association of Latin American Law Students and the “Latina Trailblazer of the Year” award by the New Jersey Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She has also been included in InsiderNJ’s 100 Policy Makers Power List, which recognizes the top policy leaders in New Jersey.
