SCDC REORGANIZES UNDER NEW LEADERSHIP; HEATH, CLARK, VANALLEN AND HEFTLER TAKE LEADERSHIP

On Tuesday, June 27th, the Sussex County Democratic Committee held their post-primary reorganizational meeting. The committee elected a new slate of leadership to steward the organization for the next four years. Zoe Heath was elected to the position of chair along with her slate members to their respective positions. Neill Clark was elected vice chair, Michele Van Allen was elected secretary and Mark Heftler was elected treasurer.

Heath was recruited, trained and ultimately brought into leadership by the SCDC over the last five years. Her involvement in local politics, experience in organizing and passion for improving the lives of Sussex County residents has been undeniable. She will now lead the organization, along with her team, in a time when radical right wing attacks on women, teachers, students, LGBTQIA+ community members and other vulnerable groups are a daily occurrence and Sussex County residents’ quality of life is being jeopardized by out-of-place development.

The new SCDC administration is looking forward to bolstering fundraising efforts, recruiting competent, capable candidates for office, supporting current candidates currently running, and expanding its involvement in organizing efforts county wide and encouraging broad citizen participation in local affairs.
