Schaer, Chiaravalloti & Mukherji: Jersey City BOE Member Should Resign for Hateful Remarks
(TRENTON) – Assembly members Gary Schaer (D-Bergen, Passaic), Nicholas Chiaravalloti and Raj Mukherji (Both D-Hudson) released the following statement on the recent remarks made by Jersey City Board member Joan Terrell Paige:
“We are sickened by Mrs. Terrell-Paige’s remarks directed toward the residents affected by the recent shooting in Jersey City and the Jewish community as a whole. Her words were insensitive to a community reeling from the abhorrent, terroristic actions of two assailants.
“Her lack of compassion at this time and her remarks, especially, the kind of language she used, cannot be tolerated from someone who is in charge of deciding what’s best for our children and our schools. It is repulsive. Mrs. Terrell-Paige should resign immediately. We call on Governor Murphy, Education Commissioner Repollet, and Schools Development Authority CEO Manual Da Silva to exercise their powers to ensure her immediate removal from office.”
