Schmid Campaign Hosts Get Out the Vote Rally with Down-Ballot Democrats
The Stephanie Schmid for Congress campaign had a Get Out the Vote Rally outside of Rep. Chris Smith’s Freehold office today with Monmouth County Clerk candidate, Angela Ahbez-Anderson, Monmouth County Freeholder candidates, Moira Nelson and Michael Penna, and Assemblywoman Joann Downey (LD-11).
“I am so inspired to be on the ballot with these incredible human beings. This is what it’s about. It’s about voting for people who are going to put our communities first,” Schmid said. “We are Central Jersey and this is about change. I’d like to talk about the debate we had on Monday, between Congressman Smith and I, and highlight some things: this is 39-year incumbent, who cannot run on his record because he has done nothing other than work to strip away healthcare for people with pre-existing conditions like me, and his cronies are so afraid of me that they have spent this week trying to publicly humiliate me and shame me for my pre-existing condition. There are 300,000 people that live in NJ-4 with pre-existing conditions, and we all are entitled to healthcare. So let me tell you: I’m not afraid, I’m not ashamed, and I’m going to Congress to represent the people of this district who deserve healthcare as a fundamental human right.”
The crowd cheered as Schmid and all of the candidates called for change and to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. Over 200,000 votes have already been cast in CD4, and we are confident that this high turnout will bode well for the Schmid campaign and Democrats from the top down. After 39 years of absentee, out of touch leadership from Rep. Chris Smith, change is coming to New Jersey’s Fourth Congressional District.
