Screen New Jersey Speaks at the United Nations to End Children’s Easy Access to Explicit Content Online

New Jersey – Alongside the Center for Family and Human Rights – C-Fam and Exodus Cry, Screen New Jersey’s founder, Cole Allen Johnson, spoke at the United Nations to advocate for increased protection of children against pornography.

Cole spoke to a panel at the United Nations on July 30, 2024 to call for an end to children having easy access to explicit content online. Cole Allen Johnson, a devout Orthodox Christian and South Jersey resident, seeks to raise awareness and advocate for legislation mandating age verification for online pornography.

A Personal Story of Transformation and Advocacy

Cole’s journey began with a deeply personal and painful experience. Exposed to pornography as a child, Cole’s adolescence and young adulthood were significantly impacted by addiction. However, through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, he was able to break free from this addiction. Inspired by his deliverance, Cole immediately began his ministry to protect other children from enduring the same hardship.

The Solution: Mandate Age Verification

Screen New Jersey advocates for a simple yet effective solution: mandating age verification for accessing online pornography.

“We require ID before granting access to strip clubs; it’s only logical to verify age before granting access to porn sites,” Cole explained. “In 2023 alone, eight states passed bills mandating age verification. These laws are a crucial step forward, but our work is far from complete.”
