Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg endorses Rupande Mehta for LD-25 Senate against incumbent Republican Senator Anthony Bucco Jr.

“Now more than ever, it is crucial to encourage and support women to run for office which is why I am endorsing Rupande Mehta. In order to continue to combat New Jersey’s toxic political culture, we need representation that reflects New Jersey residents. I know Rupande will protect our core democratic values by standing up for a woman’s right to choose, the civil rights of the LGBTQ community, all people of color, and standing by DREAMERS.

I have dedicated my career to empowering diverse women. I am looking forward to working alongside Rupande in the Senate, who will be the first South Asian woman elected to the New Jersey legislature,” stated Senator Weinberg.

Rupande is honored to have Senator Loretta Weinberg’s endorsement. “I respect and admire Senator Weinberg for her dedication to New Jersey and the Democratic Party” Rupande said. “At this moment, the residents of LD-25 are seeing firsthand how much representation matters at the state level. It is clear, District 25 is ready for a new leader and I am hopeful that I will have the opportunity to work with Senator Weinberg in the New Jersey Senate.”

Rupande Mehta is a proud 2019 Emerge graduate, a founding board member of Inspiring South Asian American Women (ISAAW), and the former Morris County Director of the South Asian American Caucus (SAAC). Mehta also founded the SAR Foundation, which is dedicated to train local and state organizations on issues of domestic violence. Rupande is running for State Senate to stand up for New Jersey families from all walks of life.
