Senate Majority Leader Ruiz Statement on Governor Murphy’s Final State of the State Address
TRENTON – “Over the last eight years, the Legislature and the Murphy Administration have worked hand in hand to uplift New Jersey’s children and families in every community. Even amid a global pandemic, economic challenges, and federal uncertainty, that partnership delivered meaningful progress for New Jerseyans at every stage of life.
“Together, we’ve strengthened support for young families by improving maternal and infant health, launching one of the nation’s first universal newborn home visitation programs. We’ve expanded access to early childhood education and universal preschool, bolstered student literacy, and worked to close achievement gaps so that every child has a strong foundation to succeed. We’ve managed the affordability crisis felt by too many households, providing historic property tax relief, a state child tax credit, and full pension payments. Our work is far from over, but the steps we have taken put us further down the path toward a New Jersey that is fairer, more inclusive, and full of opportunity for anyone who seeks it.
“Governor Murphy, Lieutenant Governor Way, the late Lieutenant Governor Oliver, and every leader in this Administration have been invaluable allies in advancing our shared work in Trenton. Thank you for your partnership, and congratulations on all you have accomplished for our state.”
