Senate Majority Leader Ruiz Statement on Resolution of NJ Transit Rail Strike
TRENTON – Senate Majority Leader M. Teresa Ruiz released the following statement in response to NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen forming an agreement to end the rail strike:
“I commend NJ Transit leadership and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen for acting quickly to form a fair and fiscally sound agreement ahead of a busy work week so our commuters can get to work and school. While this disruption was brief, it underscored just how vital public transportation is to the daily lives of New Jersey residents. We must be proactive in ensuring our transit system is fully supported, properly resourced, and equipped to prevent these types of interruptions in the future. I also want to express my gratitude to our public safety officers, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the bus drivers who went above and beyond to keep New Jersey moving during this time.”
