Senator Greenstein Statement on State Worker Pay Bill

TRENTON – Senator Linda Greenstein (D-Mercer and Middlesex) issued the following statement today on the governor’s commitment to signing legislation (S3422) she is sponsoring to pay state workers for the period during which the state was shut down:

“This is great news for the workers who were affected by the brief government shutdown. These men and women run our state agencies and make sure the services that our residents depend on are delivered in an efficient way. We need to show them the respect they deserve, and make sure they are compensated for the time period they were unable to work as a result of the state shutdown.

“The fact is that the closure of state government had nothing to do with them, and passing this legislation would protect them from lost wages. I am grateful that the Senate President has scheduled a special session of the Senate to consider this bill and ask my colleagues for their support for this important piece of legislation.”
