LAKEWOOD  — Candidate for New Jersey State Assembly District 30, Eliot Arlo Colon, announced today, that he has formally received the endorsement of the Senior Action Group (SAG), based in Lakewood, NJ.

“I am absolutely thrilled and honored to have received this endorsement,” said Mr. Colon. “Senior Action Group is a prominent voice in our community, demanding transparency and accountability from our government leaders, and I can bring that to our district and the Assembly.”

SAG represents over 14,000 seniors in Lakewood alone, and incorporates a strong mission of seeking transparency in government decisions and fairness for all residents of their community.

Of the many issues SAG is fighting for, several resonate with Mr. Colon and his campaign. With senior family members (including Colon’s mother and in-laws) living in the District, Mr. Colon said he “sees first-hand the negative impact of high property taxes and traffic congestion and how these issues negatively impact our senior’s quality of life.”

“I wholeheartedly agree and support the many causes of SAG as well as support the rest of District 30 senior residents who I feel pay way too much of the tax burden while using far too few of the district resources,” said Mr. Colon.

SAG is also fighting to correct many zoning and development problems throughout Lakewood and seeks correction of the funding for Lakewood’s public schools, with education being the highlight of Mr. Colon’s campaign.

“We met with Eliot a couple of times and we really endorse his forward thinking and his way of changing the status quo in town,” said Tom Gatti, Chairman of Senior Action Group, Inc. “I contacted every one of our members and we really believe that in order to see change in our community, we have to elect new people. It’s the definition of insanity: we keep doing things exactly the same and expecting a different outcome.”

Mr. Gatti also touched on the importance of this year’s election, saying, “This is the first time we have a new candidate saying the things that will have a real impact on the Lakewood community.”

Mr. Colon, in a statement to SAG, thanked the group for their endorsement and said, “I will work very hard to fulfill my campaign promise(s) that I made when I met your team a few weeks ago, and that is to fight for fairness to the Seniors of our district and ensure that they are not pushed to bear the brunt of; over taxation, waste and unfair state funding.”

“We are all in this together and there is absolutely no reason why seniors should be ‘taxed out’ of their homes, horrible traffic in every direction and lack of a voice in Trenton,” said Mr. Colon. “The status quo is officially over November 7th,” he concluded.

The Senior Action Group (SAG, Inc.) is a non-political group of civic minded citizens committed to establishing a working relationship with the Lakewood Township Committee and all Governing Agencies, according to their mission statement.

Establishing this informational bridge will enable residents to make informed decisions on matters that affect their property taxes and values, safety, security and quality of life.

SAG will continue this effort with equal respect and importance for all residents in Lakewood.
