Sheriff Anthony Cureton Holds Pre-Passover Briefing With Religious and Community Leaders

Hackensack, N.J. – With the religious holiday of Passover beginning next week, Sheriff Anthony Cureton and Prosecutor Mark Musella have invited law enforcement and community leaders together for a pre-Passover briefing to talk about public safety.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office plans on deploying additional resources to synagogues, neighborhoods with higher Jewish populations, and other potentially sensitive locations during the religious holiday.

As with many major holidays, increased traffic is expected on the roads and at shopping centers. In addition, law enforcement is on heighten alert for acts of bias and anti-Semitism.

“The safety and security of all Bergen County residents is of the utmost importance. Even in the absence of a threat, it is the job of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office to remain vigilant and dedicate additional resources for religious high holy days. Bergen County is a welcoming place for everyone and it is essential residents feel safe practicing their respective creeds and faiths. The Jewish holiday of Passover begins on the evening of Saturday, March 27 and will take place until Sunday April 4.
