Sherrill: Ciattarelli Will Bring MAGA Court to New Jersey

BLOOMFIELD — Mikie Sherrill today released the following statement on U.S. Supreme Court rulings:

“Once again, Trump’s hand-picked Supreme Court is driving a MAGA political agenda, threatening Constitutional rights and civil rights that have been on the books since the end of the Civil War. Jack Ciattarelli has pledged to turn New Jersey’s state supreme court into a partisan mess, just like Washington, saying he would only nominate far-right justices in line with his extreme MAGA agenda. This means justices who would favor efforts to roll back abortion rights and defund reproductive healthcare; who would threaten community safety by permitting firearms modified to be weapons of war; and who would reject efforts to hold powerful interests accountable for polluting our soil, water, and air. That’s not my vision for New Jersey — I’m committed to defending our Constitution, just like I did in the Navy, and nominating state supreme court justices who will uphold the rule of law and protect our communities. These decisions show that the stakes of this race are important for our state, our rights, and our values.”
