Sierra Club: Eustace, Enviro Champion; Will be Missed

Eustace, Enviro Champion; Will be Missed

Assemblyman Tim Eustace (D-38) will officially be stepping down from office this week. Eustace has represented Bergen and Passaic Counties in the Legislature since 2012. Previously, he served as Mayor of Maywood for four years. Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club, released the following statement:

“We are sad to hear that Assemblyman Tim Eustace will be stepping down. He’s been an environmental champion and one of our closet allies in the Legislature. From climate change and clean water, to protecting the Highlands and stopping oil trains, he has sponsored almost every major piece of environmental legislation and when he was Chair, he helped shape every major piece. We have stood alongside him to advocate for many important issues including stopping oil bomb trains, promoting electric vehicles, advocating for cleaning up toxic sites such as Pompton Lakes, protecting animal welfare, and fighting to rejoin RGGI.

“Assemblyman Eustace has been a champion who advocates for clean energy and protecting our environment. We also appreciate his personal and professional commitments to the protection our state’s natural resource. He is a champion in the legislation and leads by example in fighting climate change and promoting clean energy; he even drives a plug-in electric car. We’re losing one of the most effective members of the Legislature and not only changed the environment but has the integrity to stand up to leadership. His leaving is a real loss for the environment and people of New Jersey. We hope he stays active and we can continue to work alongside him to promote environmentalism in New Jersey.”
