COVID-19 Closures Extended for County-Operated Senior Centers

Grab & Go and Zoom Programs Are Available

Office on Aging and Disability Is Temporarily Closed to Walk-Ins

 

SOMERVILLE, NJ – All Somerset County-operated senior wellness centers will continue to follow public healthcare guidelines for the safety of clients and caregivers by remaining temporarily closed until Oct. 31. County staff is continuing to work diligently to provide food deliveries and remote services.

Grab and Go Lunch service is available as a healthy alternative to congregate dining. Seniors can pick up their lunch at curbside at any of the six county-operated senior centers on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration and reservations are required. Meals on Wheels will continue to deliver hot and/or frozen meals, five days a week according to each client’s meal-delivery schedule.

The Office on Aging & Disability Services is closed to walk-ins, but the staff is available to answer calls and assist with curbside service. A client’s need for curbside service will be determined over the phone by staff. For those who are seeking assistance, call 908-704-6346 or toll-free at 1-888-747-1122. Clients are asked to leave a brief message with their name and phone number, and calls will be returned as soon as possible.

County-operated senior wellness centers are operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services. The multi-purpose facilities offer a variety of activities including educational programs, health and wellness information and a stimulating social setting.

The Office on Aging and Disability Services connects seniors, their caregivers and adults with disabilities to programs and services that they need to remain independent and active in their community.
