South Jersey Young Democrats Honors 15 Candidates at Their Ninth Annual Endorsement Party

CHERRY HILL, NJ – On Thursday, October 15, the South Jersey Young Democrats hosted their Ninth Annual Endorsement Party, honoring 15 candidates throughout South Jersey under the age of 40. These candidates ranged from Township Committee to the United States Congress. Over $2,000 was donated to the endorsed candidates.

“I am genuinely proud of our work as an organization, and I think it is essential for the future of South Jersey that we continue to support and cultivate young leaders,” said Digna Townsend, president of the South Jersey Young Democrats. “Every day we face new challenges and uncertainties due to the pandemic, and I have never been more confident that this generation of young Democrats will set South Jersey on the right path forward,” said Nicole Moen, vice president of the South Jersey Young Democrats.

Due to Covid-19, this year’s ninth annual reception for endorsed candidates took place virtually. Although the setting was different from previous years, it has continued to be an exciting event. Since the first event in 2011, the South Jersey Young Democrats have endorsed more than 130 candidates and donated over $45,000 to young Democrats running for office throughout the region.

One notable endorsed candidate included Congressman Andy Kim, who is running to continue representing New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District and become the first Democrat reelected in the district’s history. “I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the South Jersey Young Democrats,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “I have been so inspired by the young people leading the movement for justice and change in our nation over the past few months. I’ve been proud to stand alongside them in that work, and I look forward to continuing the fight.”
