SPACE SLAMS COURT FOR BORROWING DECISION

– Conservative legislator says reckless borrowing will leave taxpayers on the hook for decades –

Assemblyman Parker Space (R-Sussex, Warren, Morris) issued the following statement in response to the New Jersey State Supreme Court’s ruling allowing the Murphy Democrat’s borrowing scheme to move forward:

“It is a sad day for taxpayers of New Jersey.  As it was, reckless borrowing in the past has pushed our State on a path to insolvency.  And now the state Supreme Court, as it has done in the Abbott school funding decisions and Mt. Laurel subsidized housing decisions, has once again stuck it to the taxpayer.  Allowing this borrowing to go forward in such a haphazard way without forcing structural reforms and meaningful cuts and not going to the voters for approval is an insult to taxpayers and will eventually force taxes higher to cover this.”
