Speaker Coughlin on All-Remote Learning Option for School Openings

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) released the following statement on the recent announcement that schools will be allowed to submit plans for all-remote learning as an option for the fall:

“Our school districts have worked very hard to find the right balance of remote and in-person learning for their students. It has become evident that for some districts it is next to impossible to return to the classroom for a myriad of reasons.

“Districts should continue to work toward bringing students back to schools in a way that is safe for families, teachers and staff. Until then, having all-remote learning as an option will allow school districts time to plan and to focus on what is most important which is educating New Jersey students. In order to do so, it will be necessary that we have in place consistent protocols, and the necessary funding to facilitate their safe return.
