Speaker Coughlin Statement on StayNJ Receiving Final Legislative Approval

“I’m so pleased to see my StayNJ bill pass both houses of the legislature. Seniors all over our state will receive historic property tax relief. I introduced this legislation because it’s time to help seniors stay in our state, in their homes. I’ve heard from so many families about the difficult decisions faced by older residents. Now, they’ll be able to plan for the future, secure in the knowledge that over 90% of seniors will see their property taxes cut in half.

“Thanks to the members of the Assembly and Senate who voted 75-2 and 37-0.  I appreciate the partnership of Senate President Scutari, Governor Murphy and all of the advocates for seniors who helped us make this a reality. Seniors will see immediate relief with increased ANCHOR benefits and over the next two years we will simplify and streamline the applications and administration of property tax benefits to launch StayNJ.”
