Spiller Stands with Labor: Endorses CWA Agenda for Healthcare Affordability
Sean Spiller, Democratic candidate for Governor and labor leader, stands in solidarity with CWA members in the fight for healthcare affordability for all New Jersey residents and endorses their legislative agenda to address the crisis in rising healthcare costs.
Spiller knows the damage done by ch78 healthcare reforms. As President of the NJEA, representing nearly 200,000 active and retired school employees, Sean successfully fought for relief from the unfair burden of ch78 on members. He supports the end of ch78 for all public sector employees and will prioritize this goal as Governor.
Spiller will bring solutions to the rising costs of healthcare, including price transparency from hospitals and insurance companies, reference based pricing and innovative ways to deliver high quality healthcare that can save money. As NJEA President he has been part of the Coalition of Affordable Hospitals since day one that is advocating for legislation to demand transparency in hospital pricing and benchmarks to limit the rise in healthcare costs.
Spiller rejects the often suggested solution of asking union members to pay more. He is the only candidate who can point to a track record of implementing solutions to control costs while providing high quality, accessible healthcare plans for all. He will prioritize this work as Governor.
Yesterday, Spiller joined over 1,000 union members from CWA and AFSCME at the New Jersey State House to raise awareness of the affordability crisis in healthcare and demand actions. Spiller, as a union leader, is proud to stand with all unions to fight for the rights of working people across the state. He was the only candidate to join the CWA rally, as he was the only candidate to join BLET on their strike line with NJ Transit.
As Governor he will fight for all working people as he is not beholden to the special interests funding his opponents in his words and his actions.
