STATEMENT FROM BRIGID FOR SOUTH JERSEY

(Longport, New Jersey – January 7, 2020) – Representative Jeff Van Drew confirmed that he was planning to sign today the GOP’s discharge petition that, if successful, will force a floor vote in the U.S. House of Representatives for anti-abortion legislation.

The following is a statement from Brigid Harrison:

“Yet again, Jeff Van Drew is showing southern Jersey how low a man truly can go in politics and what he will personally do to get himself re-elected.

“One week after switching parties and selling himself and our district for Trump money, he is now pushing extreme legislation to restrict a woman’s right to choose.

“He has not only sold out to Donald Trump but now he has also sold out to women across the second district who worked hard to elect him and trusted that he’d stand up for them.

“For 20 years, Van Drew told us that he is pro-choice. Now he’s not? Van Drew has betrayed our trust, yet again,  He is a flip-flopper with no moral compass – and Democrats throughout our communities stand united in never forgetting the choices he has made and choice we now can make on Election Day in 2020.”
