Statement by Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill on Primary Victory 

WEST CALDWELL – Today, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill released the following statement on the New Jersey primary results:

“I’m honored to once again be the Democratic Nominee for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District.

“I’ve worked tirelessly to deliver for New Jersey – securing federal funding for the Gateway Tunnel, standing up for reproductive freedom, and bringing down costs to help families get by. As a former Navy helicopter commander, I’m mission-focused; that’s why I was ranked as the most effective member of the New Jersey House delegation.

“But there’s more work to do: Reproductive freedom and our democracy itself are under attack by MAGA extremists, so it’s time for us to get to work to flip the House and reelect President Joe Biden. New Jersey’s best days are ahead of us and strong leadership is more important than ever.”

When she was first elected in 2018, Sherrill flipped NJ-11 and secured the largest swing from red to blue in the entire country. Since her first run for Congress, she has raised over $24 million and built a broad coalition of support. In the 2022 election cycle, she earned more Democratic votes than any member of the New Jersey House delegation. In addition to being ranked the most effective New Jersey House member, she was recently named U.S. Representative of the Year by the New Jersey Conference of Mayors.
