Statement by Governor Murphy on Today’s U.S. Supreme Court Oral Argument in Trump v. New Jersey

“Yesterday, I spoke to Solicitor General Jeremy Feigenbaum to wish him well as he prepares to lead oral argument before the U.S. Supreme Court in Trump v. New Jersey, a case challenging President Trump’s unlawful executive order that attempts to end birthright citizenship. The Constitution and over 100 years of Supreme Court precedent could not be more clear: children born in the United States are entitled to U.S. citizenship. That principle is fundamental to who we are as a nation and what it means to be an American. New Jersey is proud to lead a broad coalition of states in defending the basic constitutional rights of the American people, and I am confident that we will prevail.”
