Statement from the Democratic Delegation of the New Jersey Apportionment Commission on the Release of Legislative Redistricting Maps for Public Input
TRENTON, NJ – FEB. 7, 2022 – We have been extremely impressed by the tremendous levels of participation in this important process, in particular with the over 150 interested constituencies joining us in our last three commission meetings, and many more over the first six meetings.
The increased baseline of transparency advocated by the Commission’s independent member, Judge Carchman, has been both informative and historic and we intend on incorporating feedback we receive as a result of the public release of these draft maps. That information will be a significant tool for our Democratic Commissioners as we continue to work with Judge Carchman and our colleagues across the aisle to develop a fair and equitable map.
