Statement from Senator McKeon on Speculation of Attorney General Nomination

WEST ORANGE - Senator John F. McKeon (D-Essex/Passaic) issued the following statement in response to recent speculation regarding potential nomination to serve as Attorney General:
There has been considerable speculation in recent weeks about the possibility of being nominated to serve as Attorney General in the incoming Mikie Sherrill Administration.
While I am truly honored to be considered, I want to be unequivocal that my work remains in the New Jersey State Senate.
It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to be a member of the Legislature and most recently the State Senate. I remain deeply committed to fighting for our shared values in Trenton and delivering for the residents of the 27th Legislative District and the entire state.
As an early and enthusiastic supporter of Congresswoman and now Governor-elect Sherrill, I have seen her unwavering dedication to the people of New Jersey. She will be an exceptional Governor. While we have achieved tremendous progressive victories over the past eight years, there is more work ahead to keep New Jersey affordable, safe, resilient and competitive.
I look forward to working closely with Governor-elect Sherrill and my colleagues in the Legislature to deliver for residents across our state. In the early days of the Sherill Administration, I will be eager to help advance consequential legislation that makes life better for every New Jerseyan.
My priorities remain crystal clear: New Jersey will continue standing as a bulwark against the aggressions and unconstitutional actions of President Trump; continuing the fight to lower prescription drug and healthcare costs; passing groundbreaking environmental legislation to confront the realities of climate change; addressing the rise in gambling-related addiction fueled by the expansion of sports betting; better serving persons with disabilities; and improving New Jersey Transit to ensure a reliable and modern system.
I am grateful for the confidence so many have placed in me. I remain fully committed to working tirelessly every day to move New Jersey forward.
