Statement from the Office of the Haledon School Board President

#Haledon, please be advised that Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 7pm, will be my last school board meeting serving as President of the Haledon Public School District’s Board of Education. Although it was not an easy decision, I made it with my family in July after a health scare (I made a full recovery from a near fatal bloodclot in June). At the time, I also discussed it with Chief School Administrator Mr. Christopher Wacha and Board Vice President Mrs. Liesl Iza. I will be officially passing the torch at our upcoming, annual Reorganization Meeting on January 4, 2023. This will also allow me to spend more time with my wife and children. Furthermore, a wise person once told me that good leaders help build other leaders. Therefore, after four (4) years, I must be a good leader and allow someone else to flourish and serve as Board President. It should be emphasized that I will remain on the Haledon Public School District Board of Education as an active Board Member.

I wholeheartedly salute my fellow board members, Chief School Administrator Mr. Christopher Wacha and his cabinet, our school administration including School Business Administrator Lameka Blash Augustin and her predecessor John Serapiglia, the Haledon Education Association, and our technology, secretarial, nursing & custodial teams. Also, this could not be possible without the incredible support from our Mayor Domenick Stampone, Esq., Council President Mounir Almaita, and the entire Haledon Municipal Council. I also want to acknowledge Chief of Police Angelo J. Daniele, Business Administrator Allan Susen, and the Haledon Board of Health for their tremendous cooperation. Moreover, I deeply thank the Office of the 35th Legislative District, State Senator Nellie Pou, Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly, and Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter, who continue determinedly fighting for us in Trenton, NJ for the full-funding of our public schools! I would be remiss if I did not give a special shout-out to Anyelis Diaz and Liesl Fores Iza, who honorably and gracefully served as my Board Vice Presidents, respectively. Finally, I want to recognize my wife Edlyn Guzman, and my family for their unwavering support, backing, and understanding!
Here are a few of the highlights from our unyielding, team effort the past four (4) years:
