STEVE SWEENEY’S STATEMENT ON GOVERNOR MURPHY’S ANNOUNCEMENT OF RATEPAYER RELIEF

Steve Sweeney has issued the following statement: 

“Since beginning my run for Governor, I have repeatedly stressed the importance of protecting New Jersey ratepayers from skyrocketing costs amid the looming energy crisis. I have outlined my plan to improve energy efficiency – through the utilization of clean energy programs and an aggressive outreach campaign encouraging consumers to use energy-efficient products to reduce consumption and lower costs. 

I am encouraged by Governor Murphy’s announcement this afternoon as a step in the right direction, but more action is needed to address long-term issues. We must embrace all forms of energy – wind, solar, nuclear, gas, hydrogen, and more – so that New Jersey can reclaim its rightful position as an energy exporter and industry leader.”
