Sunrise Movement Morris County Endorses LD26 Assembly Candidate Christine Clarke

Jefferson Twp., NJ:   26th Legislative District State Assembly candidate Christine Clarke has received the endorsement of Sunrise Movement Morris County, now the sixth environmental advocacy group to support her race.  Sunrise is a movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process.

“The members of the Morris County Hub of the Sunrise Movement are proud to endorse Christine Clarke for New Jersey State Legislature in the 26th District. We believe that Christine is a candidate who is not just fighting for our votes but fighting for our lives, our communities, our air, our water, and our health. We know Christine is a long-standing advocate for environmental and climate justice, and has said no to any fossil fuel money. We trust that she will be a strong voice in the Legislature on behalf of our movement’s goals,” said Samantha DiFalco, Hub Coordinator for Sunrise Movement Morris County.

“The people united are a greater force than the few in power, especially when we organize and we vote, and movements like Sunrise demonstrate that point,” Clarke said. “We the people deserve clean air, clean water, and a habitable, safe environment, protected by policy and by principled legislators from polluters’ influence. If those in government are not representing our collective interests in safeguarding the purity of our air and water, and our economic interests by leading the job-creating clean energy transition, then we must replace them with new representatives who will.”

Clarke spoke at the Morris County Climate Strike on September 20 hosted by Sunrise Movement Morris County. It was one of 2,500 events held in 163 countries that day.

Clarke is an environmental advocate, a grassroots organizer and a mother-of-four running for State Assembly to advance clean energy jobs, protect clean air and water, improve healthcare, and legislate with empathy and fiscal responsibility.  She is endorsed by a number of unions, environmental groups, women’s rights organizations, civic engagement and grassroots coalitions. She has lived in Jefferson for 15 years with her husband and four children. Learn more about her at www.clarkeforassembly.com.

The 26th District includes 13 communities in Essex, Morris, and Passaic counties: Butler, Fairfield, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Montville, Morris Plains, North Caldwell, Parsippany, Rockaway Township, Verona, West Caldwell, and West Milford.
