Sweeney Speaks at Rowan College of South Jersey’s Duel Groundbreaking

Trenton – Senate President Steve Sweeney spoke at a groundbreaking ceremony for two new centers for Rowan College of South Jersey. The new Economic Department Center and Rowan Medical Center will be the first major building projects since the Rowan College at Gloucester County and Cumberland County College merged to create RCSJ.

“I always enjoy visiting RCSJ,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland). “I get to watch this great institution grow, adapt and thrive while providing educational opportunities for young men and women, not only from South Jersey but the entire state. It has become a premier educational institution and I am confident it is going to continue to flourish for years to come. Whether it is a historic merger, the announcement of an innovative program or the beginning of new buildings, RCSJ is always moving forward and giving their students the best college experience possible.”

The Economic Development Center will be a one-story, 15,633 sq. /ft., office building and will house the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (One Stop Career Center), The Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce and the Gloucester County Economic Development Department.

The center is scheduled to be finished by September of 2020.

The Rowan Medicine Center will be a two-story, 56,545 sq. /ft., medical and academic building with public medical offerings and academic space for Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine medical students. The first floor will consist of four medical practices, Family Medicine, Pain Management, Pediatrics and RISN with a café in the atrium.  The second floor will have academic classrooms, a large training room, learning resource area, OMN lab and research wet lab that will accommodate 144 students. This center is set to be finished by February of 2021.

RCSJ offers more than 120 unique degrees and certificates and provides a variety of degree selections, cost-saving initiatives, and scholarship and internship opportunities, at one of the lowest tuition rates in the state.
