Team DeFusco Releases Recreation Platform Calling for Modernization of Department
Plan includes 1600 Park Dome for year-round use, technology and policy improvements
Hoboken, NJ – Councilman and mayoral candidate Mike DeFusco and Team DeFusco are continuing the release of their #NewEnergyNewIdeas platform with a plan to modernize Hoboken’s recreation department with major improvements to the city’s recreation facilities, technology and policies. The platform is designed to make the city’s Recreation Department provide an exceptional experience for both children and adults and help residents live an active, healthy lifestyle.
The plan includes adding a removable Soccer Dome to 1600 Park, making the new turf fields accessible for play all year round in any weather condition, as well as many other major improvements. The full plan is available at https://www.mikedefusco.com/create-modern-recreation-department
“Recreational opportunities are a precious part of quality of life living in a place like Hoboken, and while our Recreation Department runs some quality programs I believe that we can provide a far better experience by modernizing this department to use 21st century technologies and policies,” said DeFusco. “Adding a Soccer Dome to 1600 Park will give our residents an opportunity to stay active all year long, whether it’s youth leagues, adult teams or open play. This is the kind of big idea our campaign is all about.”
The Team DeFusco Recreation Platform draws heavily on the experience of Council candidate Andrew Impastato, an experienced youth sports coach and the founder of Next Basket Wins, a youth and adult sports league with nearly 1,000 participants in Hoboken.
“Creating a better recreation experience means using technology like a dedicated app and active social media platforms to better communicate with residents, but it also means rethinking our approach to facilities and opening our doors to residents,” said Impastato. “These are the kinds of changes Hoboken families are crying out for, and Team DeFusco is ready to meet these challenges head on.”
