Teaneck Councilman Michael Pagan Endorses Analilia Mejia for Congress

“It’s time for Latinos to support Latinos and send a fighter for working families to Washington.”
Teaneck, NJ – Teaneck Councilman Michael Pagan, who made history as the Township’s first Latino Mayor serving in 2023 and 2024, announced today his endorsement of Analilia Mejia for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District special election on April 16, 2026.
“As a proud Puerto Rican who serves Teaneck, I know how important it is to have Latino voices in positions of power,” said Councilman Pagan. “Analilia Mejia represents the best of our community -- a daughter of New Jersey who has spent her entire career fighting for working families and immigrant communities. It’s time for Latinos to support Latinos.”
Councilman Pagan emphasized the urgent need for increased Latino representation in Congress as anti-immigrant rhetoric and aggressive enforcement actions intensify under the current political climate.
“Latino families are facing increasing threats from immigration enforcement and economic uncertainty,” Pagan stated. “We need someone in Congress who will fearlessly defend our communities. Analilia will stand up to ICE, fight for living wages, and represent the values of working families across New Jersey.”
Mejia, a longtime labor and community organizer from Glen Ridge who grew up in Elizabeth, is running on a platform focused on worker rights, immigrant justice, and economic opportunity for working families.
“This is about building Latino political power across our state and ensuring our communities have a seat at the table in Washington,” Pagan said. “I’m proud to stand with Analilia Mejia.”
