TEDESCO DELIVERS 2023 STATE OF THE COUNTY ADDRESS
Declares the state of Bergen County is strong and growing stronger each and every day
(HACKENSACK, N.J.) – Yesterday, County Executive Jim Tedesco delivered his 2023 Annual State of the County Address live before an audience of county representatives, employees, and members of the general public at the Two Bergen County Plaza administration building in Hackensack. At the beginning of his remarks, Tedesco gleefully noted that it was the first time he was able to present his annual update before a live audience in three years.
“We’ve come a long way, but now our Main Streets are once again bustling, and business is booming as our lives return to normal,” said County Executive Tedesco. “Looking to 2023, we will continue our efforts to further bolster the strong foundation we have laid over the last eight years.”
In his remarks, Tedesco celebrated the completion of major administrative initiatives including the implementation of Bergen County’s own Emergency Medical Services Ambulatory Unit, the opening of the Bergen County Training Annex at the Law and Public Safety Institute, and the completion of five large-scale park upgrades including the renovations of the Darlington Driving Range and grand opening of the Bergen County Rowing Center in Riverside County Park.
He pledged that his administration would remain committed to finding ways to realize savings through shared service opportunities and also continue the County’s critical mission of caring for Bergen County’s most vulnerable residents by supporting mental health services, the County’s public hospital Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, and the County’s Food Security Task Force.
Telegraphing future plans, Tedesco also unveiled several initiatives for the coming year including breaking ground on a new workforce housing project for entry level workers, a refresh of park amenities in Saddle River County Park, updating the County’s Master Plan for the first time in 60 years, and continuing to spearhead a solution to Bergen County’s largest infrastructure headache – the State Route 17 bottleneck.
