The Hunterdon County Republican Committee endorsed County Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren for re-election, at its March 1st County Committee convention
Republican County Chairman Gabe Plumer said, “The Committee unanimously backed Commissioner Van Doren for re-election, recognizing his leadership, experience and exemplary service to the public over his years of service, in addition to his commitment to the taxpayers.”
Van Doren, a former Tewksbury Township Committee member and three time Mayor, is seeking re-election to a third term on the Commissioner Board.
Plumer noted, “While leading the Board as Director in 2020, Commissioner Van Doren is credited with ensuring that county services continued for the public despite the state ordered COVID-19 shutdown.
And his dedicated work on the Board’s Budget Committee for the last three years has ensured the continuation of the Commissioners’ conservative fiscal philosophy, resulting in a freeze in the county tax rate every year since 2018 and continuing the county’s no debt policy.
Van Doren’s long service in local and county government means he is a valuable and experienced voice on the Commissioner Board.”
Van Doren, during his service on the Commissioner Board has served as Director, on the County Planning Board, as liaison to the Departments of Public Works and Engineering, Health, and Human and Senior Services, and the Shade Tree Commission.
Van Doren also serves as a Hunterdon County representative to the Raritan Valley Community College Board of School Estimate.
In Tewksbury, where Van Doren continues as the Township Historian, a post he has held for nearly thirty years, he served on the Land Use Board and the Planning Board for many years.
Van Doren is Hunterdon County’s representative to the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC), a statewide organization that advocates on behalf of County governments and taxpayers, of which he was recently elected 1st Vice President.
Employed as a Senior Safety and Environment Specialist at Merck and Company, Van Doren holds a Master of Science from Stevens Institute of Technology, a BS from Trenton State College, (now the College of New Jersey) and is a distinguished graduate of RVCC.
