THE NEW JERSEY PUBLIC EDUCATION COALITION (NJPEC) CONDEMN “MOMS FOR LIBERTY” FOR THE USE OF A “HITLER” QUOTE IN THEIR MATERIALS

This morning it was revealed that a “Moms For Liberty” chapter issued a newsletter which included a quote from Adolph Hitler stating, “He alone who owns the youth, gains the future.”

NJPEC cannot condone or accept the despicable use of this quote, right on the heels of the Southern Poverty Law Center declaring Moms for Liberty “a far-right anti-government hate group” and investigative reports revealing their connection to groups the likes of the “Proud Boys.” NJPEC believes that the use of this quote gives insight into the Moms for Liberty strategy to “control the minds” of our public school population and push a policy that discriminates against “the other.”

The Coalition recognizes the use of the statement and the content of the statement itself as a clear indication and confirmation that the Moms for Liberty strategies and playbook are specifically designed for “indoctrination of our youth” with an “agenda of hate.” The Moms for Liberty agenda in our public schools has clearly been one: 1) designed to remove diversity and inclusion; 2) to whitewash American history by removing the study of racism, anti-Semitism and civil rights; 3) to promote homophobia and transphobia; and 4) to infuse the public education system with religious doctrine and dogma. Moms for Liberty seek to blur the lines of separation between “church and state” and force their singular viewpoint on all children.

The Moms for Liberty “modus operandi” is to enrage parents with misinformation and propaganda and run “puppet candidates” for Boards of Education. Once elected these candidate immediately begin to push the Moms for Liberty agenda by banning books, changing curriculum, revising board policies and firing superintendents, teachers or anyone who might express a differing opinion. Additionally, their operatives push the use of intimidation, harassment, defamation and physical threat to effectuate their goals and dogma.

NJPEC will continue the fight against Moms for Liberty and any other similar organizations that seek to impose their hate agenda on New Jersey public schools and public school children. Our public schools must remain places of open communication where there can be a free expression of ideas and an environment that will prepare our children for continued success upon graduation. That will provide them with critical thinking skills so that they can make “independent” conclusions and reject tenets that seek to divide us, rather than unite us.

The New Jersey Public Education Coalition (NJPEC) is a grassroots “Coalition” of educators, administrators, education professionals, municipal leaders and representatives as well as concerned and involved parents and partnering organizations. It is a totally non-partisan organization.

Our goal is to “Protect Our Public Schools” from radical right organizations that seek to remove diversity and inclusion from our public schools. Whose goal is to disrupt and adulterate our children’s education with hate, intolerance and racial bias. And whose ultimate goal is to end public education and make all schools private and “for-profit” with absolutely no regulation. Allowing them to teach or not teach whatever they want.
