THREE MORE MAYORS ENDORSE FULOP FOR GOVERNOR
Leaders of Trenton, Lambertville, Garwood Join Group of Early Mayor Endorsements; Trenton Represents Largest City Outside of Hudson County To Engage Early
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Three more mayors announced their endorsement of Steven Fulop for Governor today, led by Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora who joins a growing list of early endorsers. Mayor Gusciora is joined by Lambertville Mayor Andrew Nowick and Garwood Mayor Jen Blumenstock in endorsing the Fulop campaign.
“Mayors have a unique understanding of the challenges that New Jersey faces so I’m honored to have their support early,” said Mayor Fulop. “We’re continuing to build out a diverse coalition of support from all corners of New Jersey with a common goal of delivering progress for the people of New Jersey.”
The current mayor of Trenton and a former State Assemblyman as well as one of the state’s most prominent LGBTQ elected officials, Mayor Gusciora leads one of New Jersey’s most diverse communities and his administration is making major strides to revitalize the state capital.
“New Jersey needs a bold leader who understands municipal government and there is no one better equipped for the job than Steve Fulop,” said Mayor Gusciora. “The progress that Mayor Fulop has brought to Jersey City is undeniable, and he’s creating a set of policy initiatives that can help bring new life to communities across New Jersey by improving public transit, creating good jobs and economic opportunities, improving schools and more. I’m ecstatic to join Team Fulop today and I look forward to working closely with Steve as our next Governor to continue revitalizing the City of Trenton.”
Elected in 2021, Mayor Andrew Nowick has focused on helping Lambertville recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Ida as well as stabilizing taxes and enhancing services.
“Mayor Fulop’s vision for New Jersey is to build a place where every community is given the resources and support needed from our state government to thrive, and it’s something that I’m proud to support,” said Mayor Nowick. “Lambertville residents take public policy seriously and I’m certain that they will respond well to Mayor Fulop’s record of success and the ideas on which his campaign will be based.”
Mayor Jen Blumenstock took office earlier this year after winning a contested election to lead Garwood in 2022, and she previously served as Council President and as a longtime community leader.
“I’m excited to join so many colleagues who work hard every day to lead our local communities forward in endorsing Steve Fulop for Governor,” said Mayor Blumenstock. “Steve’s commitment to public service, his excellent record as a mayor and his bold vision for New Jersey are all compelling reasons to get behind his campaign and help send him to Trenton.”
The Fulop for Governor campaign released its second quarter fundraising totals last week, eclipsing all previous state fundraising records by raising a gargantuan sum of $2.2 million. The massive total is the most ever raised by a non-incumbent gubernatorial candidate in his or her first fundraising quarter in New Jersey history, and it was achieved in an abbreviated window since Mayor Steven Fulop announced his campaign for Governor on April 11.
Mayor Fulop has previously been endorsed by the Democratic County Chairs in Hudson and Warren counties as well as several of the state’s most influential mayors, including Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr., Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle, Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, South Orange Mayor Sheena Collum, Clinton Mayor Janice Kovach and more. The campaign has also been endorsed by the Amalgamated Transit Workers Union International and New Jersey Council as well as four Teamsters locals representing thousands of active and retired workers.
