Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills & Parsippany Police Department Issue Joint Statement on Incident at Ajaco Towing Recovery
The Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills prides itself on being an inclusive community and we will not tolerate racism of any kind by any Township employee or contractor who works for or with the Township.
Earlier this morning the Township was made aware of an incident occurring at Ajaco Towing Recovery, a business contracted with the Parsippany Police Department.
During a recorded encounter, an Ajaco employee addressed a customer using racial epithets and hostile language.
After reviewing the video, the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills and the Parsippany Police Department has decided to no longer use Ajaco Towing effective immediately. Additionally, Ajaco Towing has been removed from any rotation list for any towing business conducted by municipal operations.
Further, the Parsippany Police Department will be conducting an internal review of its response to make sure that all proper procedures were followed by the responding officers.
The Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills and the Parsippany Police Department will not tolerate this behavior under any circumstances. Racist language used by anyone who works for or with the Township is inexcusable and will never be allowed.
Parsippany is a community rich with diverse cultural identities and heritages. We are guided by our American openness and diversity. We do not condone hateful behavior, nor will we allow any business to be done by the township of Parsippany with any business that condones this type of behavior.
