Two Weeks to Election Day, Mayor Fulop joins Artists & Arts Leaders in Support of Municipal Question #1 to Create NJ’s 1st Local Arts Trust Fund
“Yes” Vote Establishes Direct and Sustainable Support for Artists and Arts Education in Jersey City
What: With Election Day exactly two weeks away, Mayor Steven Fulop will join state and local artists and art leaders to support a “YES” vote on Municipal Question #1. Now more than ever, we need to establish sustainable fiscal models to provide a strong foundation, especially in one of the region’s most unique and diversified arts communities.
Mayor Fulop and the Jersey City Arts Coalition spent 2 years lobbying state legislators to implement the mechanisms for long-term arts funding. As a result, Jersey City – one of the most underfunded areas for the arts in NJ – could soon be the first municipality statewide to establish an Arts and Culture Trust Fund to support local artists and arts organizations, expand afterschool arts education programming, and directly support creative and cultural activities ranging from fine arts to graphic design, and everything in between.
