U.S. SENATE CANDIDATE TRICIA FLANAGAN STANDS STRONG FOR NJ BUSINESS OWNERS WHILE BOTH CORY BOOKER AND HER GOP PRIMARY OPPONENTS REMAIN SILENT

Lawrenceville, NJ – “The Constitution has clearly been outlawed by Governor Phil Murphy,” stated NJ U.S. Senate Candidate Tricia Flanagan in her comments regarding the arrival of Bellmawr Police on a second day to issue a summons to Atilis Gym owners Ian Smith and Frank Trumbetti for opening their gym against Murphy’s Executive Order.

“These business owners have taken every precaution to keep their customers safe, they are practicing rigid customer-protection protocols, yet because NJ’s Governor has decided that he, and he alone, will determine which businesses will be ordained with the distinction of ‘essential’, thousands of real New Jerseyans are faced with the prospect of losing everything.  Their choice is between being forced to give up their Constitutional Rights and their livelihood versus being labeled a criminal according not to law or our American Constitution, but according to grossly overblown Executive fiat.  This is still America, this cannot stand,”  Flanagan added.

In a conversation with Tricia Flanagan, the gym’s co-owner, Ian Smith, shared with Tricia how police officers were on site again today and explained how one of his gym members was “drug out in cuffs.”

“I’m appalled that American citizens can be treated this way,” Flanagan responded.  “Mr. Smith told me that additional customers were threatened with disorderly persons citations.  It’s hard to believe this is happening while actual criminals are being released from prison-this is as backwards as the law can get,” she added.

Tricia Flanagan is calling on New Jersey Police Officers to recognize the law of the land when considering their response to these and other business owners.  “Anyone who knows me knows I stand strongly with Law Enforcement Officers.  I come from a military family, law and order is written in my heart, but the supreme law of our Country is the Constitution, and that’s what Police Officers take an oath to uphold.  This Executive Order is unconstitutional on its face.  Even U.S. Attorney General Barr has stated that the DOJ will stand against any order that does not meet Constitutional rigor.”

She concluded her remarks by saying, “American citizens have a right to work, a right to conduct business, a right to be free.  That’s true even in NJ, Governor Murphy, and I look forward to replacing Cory Booker’s complicit silence in the upcoming election with a U.S. Senate voice that will push back for We the People.”
