USWU Endorses Johnson for State Senate

Bergen County, NJ – The United Service Workers Union (USWU) issued the following statement endorsing Assembly Speaker Pro-Tempore Gordon M. Johnson for State Senate:

“The United Service Workers Union is proud to endorse Assembly Speaker Pro-Tempore Gordon Johnson to replace retiring Majority Leader Weinberg as the State Senator from District 37,” said USWU President Lori Ann Ames. “Assemblyman Johnson has been an unwavering supporter of working families and a champion for the people of his district for more than 20 years and we at USWU are sure he will continue to be District 37’s champion as a State Senator.

“Assemblyman Johnson epitomizes the very best of public service and when elected as Senator he will have an even bigger platform to continue his fight to improve the safety and wellbeing of the people he represents. He has promised to keep Trenton from reducing or harming the pension of the many public workers that we and our affiliates represent in District 37 and across the state. Assemblyman Johnson respects the important and essential jobs our county and municipal workers perform including those in the private sectors such as school bus services, paratransit, automotive retail, and other industries.

“We are confident our members will be able to count on Senator Johnson as a dedicated advocate who will have their best interests at heart and be a strong partner with USWU in improving their standard of living.”
